I have used the search feature, and I have found many 55 hp builds, but none of them tell me what I am asking:

what IS a 55 hp build? Why do you end up with only 55 hp, how do you end up with only 55 hp, and why is it at all viable?

But in a nutshell, the 55hp build, you use 5 superior runes and an offhand that has -50hp. All this takes you down to 55hp. Cast Protective spirit and you can't take more than 5 damage per hit. Then between Mending and Healing breeze, you become virtually invincible.
